WWS is pleased to offer a full lunch service for all students, prepared by our very own Chef Eron. Our lunches are wholesome, balanced, and largely organic, not to mention delicious! We also offer vegetarian, vegan, dariy free, and gluten free options, and seconds are generally available. We deliver lunch to Children's Garden classes and to Grades 1-6. Students in Grades 7-12 get lunch from the cafeteria.
There are three ways to get lunch.
Order annually: The most convenient and least expensive way to get lunch is to order for the full year. There are 160 lunch days and the total for the year is $800. That's just $5/day - the same price as last year. It's like getting 15 lunches free! You may write a check for $800 or we can deduct $100/month from September 2014 to April 2015, with your tuition payment.
Order Online: We will be transitioning to an online order sytem, beginning in October. Instructions for setting up an online account are available here. Based on our initial experience with the online system, we are making two changes. First we will be dropping the 3% service charge, beginning in November. Second, we will accept credit card payments only for the online system. The check option proved to be rather cumbersome, and did not work very well for parents or the school, so we are removing it from the system.
At the door: If you do not order in advance annually or by using the monthly form, the cost will be $7 per lunch, payable in cash only at the door. We will no longer be able to offer a lunch "tab."
Please feel contact Stacey Kornegay at 301-229-6107 x121 or by email if you have any questions or to set up a lunch payment plan.
Parent volunteers who help prepare and serve lunch are a vital part of our food service program. Not only do volunteers help moderate the cost of lunch, but they also have fun and build their cooking skills working with Chef Eron. Two volunteer shifts are available, from 8:30-11 a.m. or 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. All volunteers are entitled to eat lunch for free on the day they work. Alumni and alumni parents are also warmly welcomed to volunteer in the kitchen.
