  • Torin Finser: Building the Waldorf Community
    7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
    One of the leading Waldorf educators in the country, Torin Finser, will be joining us for a full day of lectures and workshops on how to build the parent-teacher community in Waldorf schools. Torin is currently Chair of the Educational Department at Antioch College New England and General Secretary of the Anthroposophical Society in America. He has been a class teacher at Great Barrington Waldorf School and served on the board of six Waldorf schools. He is author of seven books, most recently "A Second Classroom: Parent-Teacher Relationships in a Waldorf School."

    Observation Mornings include a presentation on the philosophy and approach of Waldorf education and visits to five classes to see the Waldorf approach “in action.” The tour spans the grades, observing our youngest students in the Children’s Garden, several Lower School grades, and a class in the High School. Observation Mornings begin at 8:00 a.m. in the school library and end in the library at 10:30 following a Q & A period. These events are for adults.     High School Open Days are for middle school and high school age students and their parents. The morning begins at 8:00 a.m. with a presentation about the Waldorf approach for the high school years and then offers an opportunity to sit in on a number of classes for the morning. Visitors are invited to stay for an organic lunch from Chef Eron at 12:30.
