Job Description

The Washington Waldorf School is seeking a substitute/floater for the Early Childhood program for the 2025-2026 school year.

This is a part-time, hourly position from 8:00am – 1:15pm daily.  The primary role is to be a substitute in the Children’s Garden assisting the lead teacher in any of our classes beginning with the youngest at age 2 in our Seedlings class through age 6 in the mixed-age Kindergarten classes.

Qualifications include:

  • Experience working with young children.
  • Familiarity or strong interest in Waldorf education.
  • Ability to meet Maryland Office of Child Care licensing requirements, and ability to pass a comprehensive Maryland criminal background check.
  • Completion of OCC 90 hour training or equivalent is preferred.  WWS provides assistance for the 90 hour course fees for new hires.

A bachelor’s degree and training in Waldorf early childhood education are preferred. Otherwise, we seek an assistant who has a warm and open disposition, is enthusiastic, energetic, and patient, with an ability to care for children of mixed age.

This part time hourly position pays $25/hour.  It does not offer benefits, but is a great opportunity to gain experience in a thriving Waldorf school.

Washington Waldorf is committed to building a more diverse and inclusive workforce, and we welcome applications from all interested individuals.
